I can’t believe one month has passed already! (Actually to be honest, Max is now seven weeks as of tomorrow…but I’m just now getting this posted.) It has been a crazy whirlwind getting to know our son and getting used to our new normal, but we wouldn’t have it any other way! Here are the highlights of Max’s first month!
Week 1:
- He was in the hospital for 6 days after he was born.
- He was jaundiced and had to spend a couple days under the Billilights
- He got to meet lots of his family from out of town who came to visit (Mimi and Papaw Smith, Gammy and Grandpa Joyner, Uncle Nick, Aunt Bekah, Great Grandpa Smith, “Grauntma” Sherri, Aunt Madisson).
- He got loved on and taken care of by lots of wonderful nurses.
- He came home and got to spend lots of snuggle time with his Mimi who stayed with us for nine days.
Week 2:
- He pooped on the wall while Daddy was changing his diaper.
- He rolled over from his tummy to his back at 12 days old (multiple times!)
- He got to meet his Fairy Godmother.
- He went to church for the first time.
- He stayed at home with Mimi while Mom and Dad went on an Anniversary date.
- He started using a pacifier at night (after the lactation consultant specifically told us NOT to)

- He snuggled with Daddy lots before he had to go back to work.
Week 4:
- He made his first Mother’s Day hand-print, made a card, bought flowers and a Reese’s for Mommy (that may have been Daddy, not Max).
- He threw a fit on his and Mommy’s first outing alone to get the car fixed.
- He started keeping Mommy up all night (his days and nights were very confused).
- He made his first visit to the YMCA to visit Daddy.
- He went to visit Mommy’s old students and school in St. Louis.

- He started fitting in to size 0-3 months clothes.
- His eyes started focusing better, so mommy made him some black and white contrast cards to look at.
- He went to his one month doctor appointment.
And now we have ourselves a one-month old! He weighs 9 lb. 4 oz. and is 21 1/4″ long.
He loves:
- Pooping 17 times a day
