Note: I wrote this post last month…but due to a new baby in my arms all the day long…I never got a chance to get the pictures in and post it. So here it is: a month after our first anniversary!
It’s fitting that today it’s pouring down rain. Rain pours on the best days of our life. It poured on the day we got engaged, the day we got married, the day our son was born, the day we brought him home…. and now today… our first anniversary. Rain is newness. Rain is a celebration of all the things that have happened this year:
Living apart for the first 2 months of marriage…
Moving to a new state…
Starting new jobs…
Making our little house a home…
Finding a new church family…
Playing way too much Pokemon Go…
Making unnecessary pit-stops on road trips…
Getting pregnant…
Traveling to the Grand Canyon for a belated honeymoon…
Making at least 5 trips to urgent care and getting through 2 car wrecks…
Having our first overnight in a hospital for Bryce’s appendectomy…
Watching Pacers games and all of the Netflix at home on the couch together…
Enjoying Friday night date nights…
Finding out we were having a baby boy…
Playing endless games together…
Preparing the nursery together…
Surviving severe pre-eclampsia and an emergency c-section…
Experiencing our baby boy being born…
And now being parents together…
As I sit listening to the rain I can’t help but think how much I love that sound. I’m glad our wedding day was rainy… because every time I hear it…I think of the wonderful things that have happened on rainy days…. and you can’t hear sunshine.
