We’re getting closer and closer to finally meeting our baby boy! He’s only 8 weeks away from moving in with us, and we couldn’t be more excited! About two weeks ago, my dad came from Indianapolis to bring us the crib. It’s such a sweet and special gift from my grandmother, Billie, who passed away only six days after we told her she was going to be a great-grandma.
She kept the crib at her house for her other grandchildren to sleep in when they came to visit–and when I last talked to her on the phone, she told me that she was thinking about taking it down because her other grandchildren were all officially too big for it—but how excited she was to keep it up for us. When we went to her funeral, her family told Bryce and I that they wanted us to have the crib as a gift from Billie, and we were so honored to accept it. It’s going to be so special to lay him down in that crib every night, knowing that both his Grandma Billie and Grandma Pat are watching over him.
It wasn’t too difficult to put the crib together without real directions. Thanks to my handy husband, my pink drill, and YouTube…we got it up in less than an hour. It was fun to spend time together getting the space ready where our baby boy will spend the beginning of his life.
We decided to leave up Bryce’s basketball hoop on the closet door, so baby boy can start practicing from the crib with his dad early on…because #priorities
Then on Wednesday, we got to see our little boy’s face at the doctor’s office when we got our 4-D ultrasound. The doctor was a little worried about his growth because I’ve been having to take lots of nebulizer treatments and steroids because of my asthma. However, we were pleased to find that he’s in the 55th percentile…weighing in at 4 lbs. 3 oz.
He’s in a breech position, so it was hard for her to get a good picture of him…but she managed to get a couple even though he had his hands and arms in front of his face most of the time. The ultrasound tech said she never sees babies with their eyes open as much as our little guy did. He was awake, alert, hiccuping, and moving around the whole time.
Here his eyes are open, but his arm is in front of his mouth, making it hard to see….I know I’m biased as his mother…but I think he already looks pretty darn cute!
This one cracks me up…digging his fingers into his eyes. I’m pretty sure I do this on the regular whenever a student asks me a question about something that I’ve just explained for the 4th time.
And my ultimate favorite…is the yawn…although I have a feeling that we’re going to be seeing that exact face daily as he’s screaming to tell us he’s hungry or tired.
I’m excited for this week off that I have to continue preparing for his arrival. I hope to get some decorations made and find a dresser for the room. I’m also really looking forward to getting to do our maternity photo shoot with Mandy and to get to see family and friends when we go home for our baby showers.
Bryce and I are also thinking about taking one last weekend getaway or doing something together as our last “big” hoorah before we become parents. What recommendations do you have?
